CurriculumOur Curriculum

Our curriculum covers a broad area of learning objectives for children between the ages of 18 months to 6 years old. We adopt the thematic and hands on approached to learning. The curriculum is developmentally age appropriate to cater the various learning needs and promotes independent learning for the children. Greenland introduces and carefully nurtures skills and strategies designed to create a cumulative effect, developing competence in all developmental areas.
Moral Values

We at Greenland strongly believe in advocating moral values from young. Moral values typically refers to teaching pupils the difference between right and wrong. These can be taught to children through methods such as individual education, group education, opportunity education and story telling.
Furthermore, socialization skills will also be inculcated; for example sharing and caring. In addition, moral values such as respect, obedience, politeness, responsibility, honesty, humility, good manners, friendliness, empathy and care to the less fortunate and giving back to the society. Children will be able to put what they have learn to real situation and people.
AlphabetLanguage & Literacy

Language and literacy composes of learning to read and write. We believe in developing language and literacy skills through interactions such as storytelling, singing songs, phonemic awareness, penmanship, current issue, show & tell, reading programmes and communicating to one another. Adults—parents and teachers play a very crucial role in preparing young children for future school success and in becoming self-confident and motivated learners.
Books Child Read A BookReading Programme

Greenland has an extensive English reading programme using Letterland. Letterland was created to teach phonics using a story-based approach. The story logic engages children leading to long term retention of concepts. Letterland is wonderfully multi-sensory. It activates every learning channel through music, actions, alliteration, movement, song, art, games and role-play. Letterland phonics makes learning to read, write and spell fun for children.

At Greenland we begin the reading program at three years old and Nursery 1 (N1). The reading programme comes with audio Cd and activity sheets to further enhance their reading and understanding. As the children progress to Kindergarten 2, children will be able to read independently and with confidence. Children may also extend their comprehension to make alternative endings to their favourite stories or write their own books.

Greenland also has trained phonics teachers, that provide extra phonemic awareness classes. Teachers adapt the reading program to the child’s needs and emphasising on a fun, hands on approach to learning how to read.

MathsNumeracy

Children’s thinking skills will be challenge to maximize their potential within mathematical concepts. Children are exposed to numeracy concepts that will equipped them with problem solving skills, estimation, conversing, place values, weight, size, shape, patterning and matching. A strong foundation in counting, addition and number sense too.
CookingKitchen Fun

In this area; children will be presented with opportunity for children to try and be adventurous with food. Children with the guidance of their class teacher will try out recipes and make eating healthy fun and an enjoyable learning experiences.
Creative Arts

Art is a key element for students’ creative development. Young children are able to unleash their imagination and create master pieces that are unique to each individual. Each child sees and perceive an object differently. Through this activity children will be encourage to paint, paste, cut, paper mache, build 3D crafts out interesting art pieces related to the learning theme.
Cultural

Since, living in Singapore we have many different races and people from all over the world. Children will learn about understanding and tolerance to other races and cultural beliefs. Children will have hands on experience with concrete objects, people and food for enhance learning. Children will also engage their senses to find out how things work, conducting investigations and manipulating objects.
Music & DanceMusic & Movement

The music and movement will be done in both languages English and Mandarin. Music is important in developing social and emotional growth. Children will be exposed to various genre and musical instruments. Children will also be able to discover more about their body and how it moves through song and dance. Music and movement is also an enjoyable way to promote gross motor coordination.
ScienceScience

We provide children with concrete objects and space for their exploration and discovery. Children are encouraged to be to ask questions and be curious. Children can explore their interest independently or guided by their teacher.
DramaDramatic

Children are provided with commercial and self made materials to explore various life – like scenarios. Children will be able to take on role playing characters that can be found in a supermarket, museum or kitchen. Children will also develop and practice their communication skills with others and be more confident.
Mandarin Curriculum

Our Mandarin curriculum are as extensive as its counter part. Children will gain adequate knowledge of the language to converse, read and write independently. With both concrete and pictorial learning tools children will be engage in their learning. The component includes the following:
- Han Yu Pin Yin
- Idioms
- Chinese Poems
- Three Character Primer (San Zi Jing)
- Readers (Singapore Based Culture)
